Tip #9 - Play with Depth of Field

Tip #9 – Play With Depth of Field

Try to create a shallow depth of field by adjusting your aperture to something around F2. This will cause your subject to remain sharp while the background, and maybe some of the foreground, will be blurred. Your viewer’s attention will be drawn straight to the subject. If your camera has manual controls, you can simple adjust the aperture yourself. Otherwise, use the ‘portrait’ setting on your camera, which is set to help you take better pictures of people.
